Urban Legends of Warcraft: The key, the essence and the ship

Urban Legends of Warcraft: The key, the essence and the ship Everyone seems to be talking about Cataclysm  these days — and that’s not a bad thing, after all the expansion is completely overhauling everything we knew and were familiar with. A lot of the Cataclysm hype surrounds the thought of “finishing” the original game as completely as possible, because many of those beloved quest chains and moments from vanilla will be gone without a trace when the expansion launches. Yet even as these chains are recommended, players forget some of the earliest quests in the game — mysteries that were never fully explained. There has been a long-running idea since the days of vanilla that there are still quests out there in vanilla that have not been completed. Despite the addition of the Loremaster achievement, there still isn’t a single player in this game who has finished “every quest,” because some quests have never been completed or even discovered. The thought of undiscovered quests sets people on a flurry of activity, speculation and forum threads that often provided more entertainment than whatever quest they were seeking answers for. One of the biggest mysteries in vanilla WoW didn’t involve dragons or legendary swords or epic moments at all — instead, it all began with a simple, unassuming box located in a quiet glade. The Key to Salem’s Chest The box in question looked like any other lootable item in game — a lockbox similar to those used for enterprising rogues that were leveling their lockpicking skill

Bati’s Healer Grid layouts

Bati’s Healer Grid layouts Addon Spotlight focuses on the backbone of the WoW  gameplay experience: the user interface. Everything from bags to bars, buttons to DPS meters and beyond — your addons folder will never be the same. This week, Grid gets some pre-made loving thanks to Bati! Thursday is here! Thursday is here! Excitement abounds in my secret addon lair for many reasons. First, my original vanilla WoW character is back in action. Originally, as many of you have read in my past columns, priest was my class of choice. Healers tend to be my forte because of group desirability — selfishly and selflessly, I always rolled healer to get invited to groups and be there to support the healerless masses back when this was a thing. After a stint in Warhammer Online, tanking became my new love and, after a quick respec and some forum threads, my Burning Crusade healadin became my Wrath tankadin. After almost three years in the freezer, my priest has emerged from cryo-stasis. Boy, has the priest game changed since the original Naxxramas — the world is so different now for a priest. After witnessing the second best discipline priest ever rule the school with healing and absorption, I was in love with the spec. Quickly, I rushed to the internets, pulled up a talent build and went to town. Upon loading up my priest, it dawned on me that the cardinal rule had been broken — I wasn’t addon-prepared. Sure, heals went off and shields went up, but that was the extent of the information. It’s been years, and I needed a healer UI setup but wanted

In World of Warcraft:For Gnomeregan! It’s time for battle!

Everyone is invited to participate. Assume that to get into the guild, you at least pretended to be in full use of your faculties and are willing to fight for the cause. You are all welcome to join us here in the comments and those who wish to play with us in-game should friend Peenk or Kixi and ask for an invite on US Shadow Council-A. Hey! My name is Kixi and I’m subbing for Peenk this meeting. I’m her cousin and … well … yeah, I’m dead. I guess “undead” is the appropriate term. Whatever. I “died” during that whole Gnomeregan fiasco and then had to do chores for the Lich King for a bit, but now I’m back to help avenge my unlife! Or something. I don’t quite get this life/death thing anymore. It used to be so clear! But I’m rambling. And that’s something that’s been going on too long here. Rambling. Many of you are out there … training … not hanging around in bed in Teldrassil inns. Ahem. But we’ve still been lax. So Peenk has made me her Person In Charge Of Training, or PICOT. I guess that’s some sort of stitch or other. So I’m a stitch in time! Polite laughter is appropriate here. Anyway. I want to see what you can do. You need to show me your fighting skills. So meet me in front of Ironforge at 9 p.m. tonight ((11 p.m. EDT, 8 p.m. PDT)) for some organized one-on-one combat. And why don’t you go around the room and tell me about your greatest combat achievement. /facepalm Don’t all talk at once. Please join us by telling us a PvP encounter (real or

Tips to Rock like a Pro In World of Warcraft

I played World of Warcraft as a Human Alliance Rogue, ready to sneak and backstab throughout the game, paying the hefty $15 a month fee just to take part in this online realm. Set in the fantasy land of Azeroth in the Warcraft Universe, World of Warcraft, sometimes known as WoW for short, has many players joining the game every single day, all throughout the world. For some of these beginning players, the wide array of options may frustrate or even turn them off to the game of World of Warcraft. However, a few simple pointers and hints may help make this beginning experience smooth and pleasant. Now, while World of Warcraft is an online, persistent, world, it still is a computer game. There are tips and tricks that help make some players who may spend just as much time as you on the game into a better gamer with a stronger character. Many of these things are called ‘builds’, or popular combinations of skills a player trains his character in that helps him become a better character than someone who just trains his character all willy-nilly and all over the place in different things. Knowing that there are still tricks and patterns to follow in World of Warcraft, and that basic gaming concepts still apply, will help you become a better player in the land of Azeroth. Read the forums, and talk with other players of World of Warcraft, both online and offline, to find out what a popular ‘build’ is for your character, and how you can get your character on the best pathway in skill advancement.

World of Warcraft Combat Informations

Attack Range You must be in range of your targeted enemy to begin attacking it. If you are out of range, you will see an error message on your screen when you select a melee attack. For melee classes, the auto-attack will always be in close proximity to the enemy, and most melee abilities (such as Sinister Strike, Heroic Strike, and Shield Bash) have a maximum range of five yards. Certain abilities (such as Blind and Intercept) are usable outside of the standard 5 yard attack range. For ranged attacks, such as with a gun or bow, the standard range to shoot is from 8-30 yards. Hunters can fire their ranged weapon up to 35 yards away, and even farther with certain talents. For spells, every spell has its own maximum range which is displayed on the spell’s tooltip. Cooldown on Attacks, Spells, and Abilities While World of Warcraft has a real-time combat system, weapon users must wait their turn to swing again based on the delay or speed of their weapon. Likewise, casters must wait for the length of the spell’s cooldown until they can cast a spell again. Many abilities have such cooldowns, and the length of any cooldowns are displayed on the ability’s tooltip. However, many abilities with no listed cooldown are still subject to a 1.5 second cooldown that affects all of a character’s abilities. This is known as the global cooldown. You will see this effect on your spell and skill icons as they simultaneously display the global cooldown after using an ability. Health Health points represent how much damage a character can take in combat before dying. Your

The World of Warcraft Classifieds: This guy’s hogging all your luck

The Classifieds brings you weekly updates on news from around the WoW community. Have guild news or a Random Act of Uberness to share? If you have, post your news to our website. And if you have the problems on this classifieds, contact us,we will provide more informations that you need. The RNG does not hate you. It’s just been spending all of its quality time this week snuggling up to Taedran of US Silvermoon-A. “I’ve been having a strange week,” Taedran confesses. “Physically, IRL, I’ve been really sick and feeling awful, but in WoW … It’s as if God is smiling upon me, because there are a few items I have been farming for every chance I get, items that I have been farming for, for more than a year. These items are: Swift Razzashi Raptor from Zul’gurub, Orb of the Sin’dorei from heroic Magister’s Terrace, Shard of the Fallen Star from AQ40 and quite a few others! This week has fulfilled all my dropping wants! And to top that all off, my guild just beat Lich King, and so we are all Kingslayers now. And guess what Lich King dropped? The only item I want off of him — the healing mace. And I won it!” This is the point at which we should probably all gather ’round and clap Taedran on the back, congratulating and wishing him well … It’s just that I think I have something in my eye, and I really don’t have a free hand, anyway. I have to keep pounding this need button over here — unless I make the right sequence of rolls (I’m going for 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42; I read

World of Warcraft Moviewatch: Peaches

WoW is a interesting game that is so many player to play it.There have many players share the experience that thire strategy, guide and so on. Bonkey’s created one heck of a music video with Peaches. Not only is it a technically savvy and beautiful movie, but it totally captures the essence of the song. His choice for singer was inspired and spot-on; I can imagine no other Azeroth race doing a better job with Peaches than a gnome. Peaches also has a small host of guest appearances. There’s Pinkhair, RedEye Lobine, Zimtower, Crykoda, and Baron Soosdon’s Petite Nikita. The 3D imagery in the video was crated by Pinkhair and Zimtower, so Bonkey certainly seems to know the machinima experts. Really, though, Peaches is just one hell of a fun video. Check it out and let us know what you think. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an e-mail at machinima AT wow DOT com.

World of Warcraft Cloth Farming Informations Guide

This cloth farming guide provides you with a guideline of what level humanoids to fight for certain types of cloth. While each type of cloth drops off a wide level range of mobs the very lowest and highest level humanoids of each range actually have an extremely small chance to drop. For example, Syndicate Watchman have been reported to drop silk at level 19, while level 47 Slave Workers in Searing Gorge have also reported to drop silk…but your chance of efficiently farming cloth off these mobs might be near impossible. Use the chart as a guideline of what levels to farm and when you find a good spot to farm stick with it. If you don’t really want to dedicate much time to farming cloth and would like to buy it or find better ways to make gold then take a look at this Gold Guide. Picking where to farm cloth can be tricky. You may find out that a certain mob drops it almost 100% of the time, but this mob might also be hard to find or spread out across a zone. It’s really not that efficient to wait for one or two mobs to spawn that drop a piece of cloth 60% of the time when you could be constantly killing mobs with a slightly lower drop rate. So if you are killing mobs for cloth that are spread out or rare you are probably better off clearing camps of mobs even if the drop rate is slightly lower. Because of this the following chart also includes favorite cloth farming areas. Finally, remember that if you are a higher level character and can farm in Northrend, you might be better off farming for gold than lower level types of cloth. If you suddenly decide to

Robert Rodat to write the Warcraft screenplay

Sam Raimi spoke with MTV News about his upcoming Warcraft movie, and while he didn’t confirm (or deny, we guess) the whole subtitle thing, he did mention a new writer. Robert Rodat is apparently putting a screenplay together — he’s best known for writing Saving Private Ryan (and of course if we can get a Warcraft movie as good as that Spielbergian epic, we’ll all be happy), and he’s also penned Fly Away Home and The Patriot. Most recently, says his Wikipedia page, he did some work on 10,000 B.C., though if you saw that movie, you probably wouldn’t be able to tell, anyway — it was terrible. Raimi says he wants to stay faithful “to the Horde and the Alliance and the mythology that takes place in the game,” as well as “choose one or some of the lands that are portrayed in the game with as much accuracy and authenticity as possible.” He calls Rodat a great character writer, and says a great character-based story within the world of Azeroth is his goal. Sounds good. The picture above is the only art we’ve ever seen of the movie (it was presented at BlizzCon a few years ago), but since then, it sounds like the movie has changed quite a bit, so we’ll have to wait and see what Rodat and Raimi are coming up with. From wow.com.

23-Year-Old WoW Fraud Arrested

Authorities in Clearwater, Florida have arrested 23-year-old Christopher H. Bouffard for committing fraud in World of Warcraft (via Miami Herald). Bouffard apparently sold a couple of characters online for about $800 each, but he never delivered the goods to the paying customers. The customers tried to follow up with Bouffard, but they reported that he severed all communications with them once the money was paid. The charges against the man include scheming to defraud and two counts of grand theft, with a $20,000 bail.
